ADA COMPATIBLE HANDICAP GATES
| With the advent and passage of ADA, the need for handicap accessibility to all
building areas has forced turnstile suppliers to confront the issue of wheelchair user's
entry and exit to restricted locations. Most applications use either waist-high or 7 foot
high turnstiles. As a result, complimentary handicap gates are needed. AVL manufactures
gates which are specifically designed to meet ADA requirements and allow integration with
new or existing turnstile installations. All gates are carefully engineered to not only
conform to ADA mandates, but to also provide ease of use and safety for handicapped
patrons. Waist-high gates are available in a wide variety of finishes and may be
mechanically or electrically operated. Custom styles are easily accommodated in order to
maintain the aesthetic content of each facility. Full- height gates are intended to match
the design and construction of adjacent full- height turnstiles. This provides a clean,
uniform appearance while maintaining the desired level of security. |

THG-41: ONE-WAY HANDICAP GATE The
THG-41 is designed for one-way 90 degree swing, handicap accessibility to a secure area.
The gate can be electrically operated through a 24 VDC door strike or magnetic lock, or it
can be mechanically controlled via a key operated lock. The gate is manually closing and
the standard material is 2" square tubular stainless steel, polished to a #4 satin
finish. Other available finishes include anodized aluminum, powder coated steel, bronze,
brass or #8 mirror finish stainless steel. Clear inside dimension is ADA compatible
34" with a 38" overall height. Other sizes are available as specified. |

THG-42E: SELF-CLOSING ELECTRIC HANDICAP GATE The THG-42E is a one-way, 90 degree swing, or a two-way, 180 degree swing,
self-closing handicap gate designed to be used with an access control system, generally in
conjunction with waist-high access control turnstiles. The gate is electrically operated
by a 24 VDC door strike. Closing is achieved by a floor-mounted hydraulic shock absorber
which can be surface or sub-floor mounted. Construction is a 2" square stainless
steel framework, polished to a #4 satin finish and a 1/4" Lexan filler panel with
universal handicap logo. Gate dimensions and operational specifications meet ADA
requirements. Clear opening of 34" can be adjusted as necessary. Overall height of
38" matches waist-high turnstiles and can vary as needed. Available materials include
anodized aluminum, powder coated steel, bronze, brass, or #8 mirror finish stainless
steel. |

THG-51 E: 7 FOOT HIGH FULL SECURITY HANDICAP GATE Designed to provide handicap access into installations using full security
turnstiles and access control. The gate is electrically operated by a 24 VDC
door strike or
magnetic lock and can be self-closing via a transom mounted overhead closer. Construction
is a 2" square buck with the interior door panel frame fabricated from 2" square
tubing with round horizontal members. Due to the general close proximity to full height
turnstiles, construction materials usually match the turnstiles. Lexan gates use a full
3/8" thick panel instead of horizontal bars. Gate height of 86" matches
turnstiles and clear opening of 36" exceeds minimum ADA requirements. Gate swing is
90 degrees, with the gate panel attached to the buck via a continuous stainless steel
hinge. Final width and height can be customized for industrial applications. |
